How to Use the Ghost Job Database

Check companies before you waste time applying

Our community-powered Ghost Job Database collects reports from real job seekers about companies that post ghost jobs. Search any company to see their ghost job history, verified reports, and community risk score before you apply.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Open the Ghost Job Database

Navigate to 'Ghost Job DB' in the sidebar. The database is publicly accessible — you can browse it without an account.

2

Search for a company

Type a company name in the search bar. You'll see all reported ghost jobs associated with that company, including the job titles, platforms, and when they were reported.

3

Check the community statistics

The stats panel shows total reports, verified ghosts, and the top-reported companies. This gives you a big-picture view of ghost job activity.

4

Review individual reports

Each report includes the job title, platform (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.), evidence provided, and whether it's been verified. Verified reports have been confirmed by multiple community members.

5

Submit your own report

If you encountered a ghost job, submit a report with the company name, job title, platform, and your evidence (like no response after applying, job reposted immediately, etc.). Your report helps other job seekers.

6

Use with the Ghost Job Detector

Combine the database with the Ghost Job Detector for maximum protection. The detector analyzes individual job descriptions, while the database shows company-wide patterns.

Pro Tips

  • Check a company before you spend time customizing your resume for their job.
  • Look for patterns — a company with 5+ ghost job reports is a red flag.
  • Verified reports carry more weight than unverified ones.
  • Submit reports even for jobs you're unsure about — the community benefits from the data.
  • Companies with recent ghost job reports (last 30 days) are more concerning than old reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can submit ghost job reports?

Any VantageCV user with an account can submit reports. Reports are reviewed and can be verified by the community and our team. You can report anonymously — your identity is never shared with the company.

How are reports verified?

Reports are verified through multiple confirming reports from different users, evidence provided (screenshots, email chains), and our team's investigation when possible. Verified reports are marked with a badge.

Can companies remove reports about them?

Companies cannot remove legitimate reports. However, if a report is factually incorrect, they can contact us with evidence and we'll investigate. Our goal is accuracy, not defamation.
